Last year I stopped buying newspapers. I never found the time to read them and realised I already knew the news headlines from browsing the internet.
Whats more the information on the net was unbiased, unlike the newpapers.
Now I find newspapers far too opinionated which shows up the limitations of their journalism.

This is where RSS feeds come into play. In my browser bookmarks, I’ve stored the RSS feed to the BBC News headlines. Click on it and I see a dropdown list of all the headlines for the day which continually updates.
To read my online newspaper I simply scan the headlines and click on those of interest which takes me through to the full story.

Now I’ve built up quite a number of RSS Feeds which is where Google Reader comes into play. This is a free Google tool which you load all your RSS feeds and read them all in one place, in a similar way to reading your emails. Its just like creating your personalised newspaper.

One final point to consider. Buying a newspaper each day amounts to around £200 a year. Your personal newspaper of RSS feeds in the Google Reader costs absolutely nothing.
